Why is my payment on hold or unavailable?

Updated over a week ago

Overview

Sometimes Kashu may temporarily place your payment on hold or mark funds as unavailable. This is part of our security and compliance process to protect you, your bank, and the Kashu network.

Key points:

  • Holds are usually temporary and resolve automatically.

  • Common reasons include security review, bank verification, or regulatory checks.

  • You’ll always see a status update in your dashboard.

Common Reasons for Payment Holds

1. Security Review

  • A payment flagged by Fraud Shield for unusual activity.

  • Large or out-of-pattern transactions may trigger extra checks.

2. Bank Verification

  • Destination bank needs time to accept the deposit.

  • Incorrect account details may delay settlement.

3. KYC & Compliance Checks

  • First-time transfers or high-value payments may require identity confirmation.

  • Extra documentation may be requested.

4. Funding Source Issues

  • Your card issuer may flag cash-equivalent transfers.

  • Exceeding daily/monthly limits may delay release.

5. Prohibited Uses

  • Payments tied to restricted categories (e.g., debt repayment, gambling, unlicensed investments) are automatically blocked
