How do I deal with unauthorized transactions?

Unauthorized Transactions

Updated over a week ago

Overview

If you notice activity on your Kashu account that you did not authorize, it’s important to act quickly. Kashu has built-in Fraud Shield protections to help you identify, report, and resolve unauthorized transactions.

What To Do Immediately

  1. Stop Further Activity

    • Do not send more money until the issue is resolved.

  2. Check Your Cards & Accounts

    • Review your credit card and bank statements for additional unusual activity.

  3. Report to Kashu Support

    • Contact us at [email protected] or through in-site chat.

    • We will review and secure your account right away.

  4. Notify Your Bank or Card Issuer

    • Call your bank’s fraud line (number on the back of your card) to dispute the charge.

    • Banks may freeze or reissue your card to protect you.

Kashu’s Policies

  • Zero Tolerance for Fraud: Using someone else’s information is strictly prohibited. Accounts involved in fraud will be closed indefinitely.

  • Chargeback Process: If you file a dispute with your bank, Kashu will work with the issuer to resolve it.

  • Timeline: Most disputes are resolved within 7–14 business days, though banks may take longer.

Restrictions

  • Kashu cannot reverse transactions that were authorized with your login credentials unless fraud is proven.

  • Transactions used for prohibited activities (gambling, debt repayment, crypto beyond approved platforms) are not protected.

Security Measures

  • Fraud Shield: Monitors for unusual patterns and alerts you.

  • 2FA & Biometrics: Protect access with PIN, fingerprint, or Face ID.

  • Bank-Grade Encryption: All transactions are secured end-to-end.

Example Scenarios

  • Unauthorized: A charge appears from a vendor you never paid → report immediately.

  • Authorized but Mistaken: You forgot about a subscription or recurring payment → contact the merchant first.

  • High-Risk Alert: Bank calls to verify a large Kashu transaction → confirm if it’s yours, deny if it’s not.
